Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Layzie Assassin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leko Pavicevic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Assassin comes into the arena with Thuggish Ruggish Bone blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Layzie Assassin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Leko Pavicevic! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Assassin blocks the body kick.
Assassin thows a body shot but no joy. A combination from Pavicevic does no damage. Assassin scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Assassin looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Pavicevic tries to improve position but can't. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Assassin working away. Assassin trying to control the action but Pavicevic is working from the bottom. Pavicevic tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Assassin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Assassin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Assassin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Pavicevic is not content to let Assassin control the position. Pavicevic is looking for a sweep. Assassin working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Pavicevic gets back to half guard. Assassin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Assassin in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Assassin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pavicevic looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Assassin passes into half guard.
Assassin wants to free his trapped foot but Pavicevic is holding on for dear life with his legs. Pavicevic trying to hold on to Assassin's head to control him but Assassin postures up.
Assassin is looking to take a break and control but Pavicevic is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Assassin sitting and controlling from the half guard. Pavicevic is looking for a sweep. Assassin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Assassin in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Pavicevic is pulling down on Assassin's head. It's preventing any offense from Assassin, at least for the moment. Pavicevic is trying to control the position but Assassin postures up.

Assassin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Pavicevic wants to sweep but no luck. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Assassin passes into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pavicevic makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pavicevic. Assassin trying to control the position from guard on top but Pavicevic is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Layzie Assassin will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Pavicevic misses the jab. Pavicevic tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Assassin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Assassin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pavicevic manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Pavicevic trying to keep a closed guard but Assassin is proving a slippery customer.
Pavicevic seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Pavicevic is fighting to maintain full guard but Assassin has managed to sneak the leg through. Assassin looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Assassin prevents Pavicevic from improving his position. Assassin passes to full mount! Assassin jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Pavicevic manages to avoid the submission attempt. Pavicevic tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Assassin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Assassin trying to control the action but Pavicevic is working from the bottom. Pavicevic parries the strikes from Assassin easily there. Assassin is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Pavicevic to escape.

Assassin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Layzie Assassin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pavicevic tries to improve position but can't. You can see the frustration on Pavicevic's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Pavicevic might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Assassin kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Assassin working the ground and pound but Pavicevic is defending the strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pavicevic manages to work his way to half guard, despite Assassin's best efforts. Pavicevic moves into full guard.

Assassin in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pavicevic throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Assassin pushing down on Pavicevic's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Assassin tries to pass to full mount but Pavicevic defends it. Pavicevic is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Assassin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Assassin's back! Assassin tries to break free.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pavicevic doesn't have the hooks in and Assassin manages to turn into his guard.

Layzie Assassin dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Assassin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pavicevic was covering up waiting for the punch and Assassin finishes the takedown easily into guard. Pavicevic looking for a guillotine here but Assassin defends easily.

He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Assassin works his way back into a safe position though. Pavicevic is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Assassin looking to pass the guard. Assassin pushes down on Pavicevic's leg and manages to get into half guard. Assassin wants to free his trapped foot but Pavicevic is holding on for dear life with his legs. Pavicevic looking for submissions off his back. Assassin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Pavicevic is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Assassin is just riding it out for now. Pavicevic eventually gives up the hold. Pavicevic takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Pavicevic is working for a submission of some sort.
Assassin moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Pavicevic working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Pavicevic trying to control the position from guard on top but Assassin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pavicevic drops back for a leg! And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Layzie Assassin. Well Assassin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
