Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Travis Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kappi Bateman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bateman has chosen 20th century boy as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Kappi Bateman has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Travis Hunter's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Travis Hunter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kappi Bateman! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hunter misses the shot to the body. Bateman takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Bateman wants to clinch and Hunter counters with a shoot takedown. Bateman fights it but they end up in guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Hunter stops Bateman from standing up. Hunter pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bateman is keeping the position for now. Bateman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hunter is controlling him. Hunter lands a couple of digs. Bateman wriggles free and stands up. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hunter swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bateman walks into a left hand. Bateman closes the distance looking to clinch and Hunter counters with a stiff right hand. Bateman plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Hunter throws a series of punches but Bateman moves out of range. Hunter shoots in looking for a takedown. Bateman tries to sprawl out of it but Hunter keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bateman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Hunter throws a body punch but Bateman moves out of range. Bateman tries to close the distance and clinch but Hunter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Travis Hunter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bateman fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hunter, pushing him back against the cage. Hunter ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hunter no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Bateman decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hunter, up you get!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hunter misses with a body shot.
Hunter moves into range and clinches up with Bateman. Hunter pushes Bateman back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Hunter misses with some punches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bateman being controlled against the cage. Bateman can't break the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Bateman's face as he tries to break the clinch. Bateman is trying to push Hunter away but Hunter has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Bateman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Bateman takes a shot to the body in his stride.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Bateman tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Hunter counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Hunter avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hunter throws a jab when Bateman was well out of range. Bateman tries to clinch up. Bateman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hunter lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Bateman has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hunter finds it's way round the side to connect with Bateman's head. Hunter instigates a clinch. Hunter prevents Bateman from breaking the clinch. Hunter goes for a takedown in the clinch but Bateman prevents it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Hunter fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bateman, pushing him back against the cage. Hunter tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Bateman's elbow. Bateman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Hunter throws a right hand that Bateman ducks under and follows up with a left that Bateman also avoids with ease. Hunter takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Bateman slips a jab and a cross from Hunter.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Bateman forces Hunter back against the cage and clinches. Bateman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hunter takes the fight into the clinch. Bateman wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hunter has him pressed against the cage. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bateman breaks from the clinch.
Bateman displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hunter. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Travis Hunter. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sloppy strikes from Bateman. Those never looked like landing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Travis Hunter will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Hunter throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bateman stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Hunter throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bateman. Hunter works over Bateman's head and body with a nice combination. Bateman slips under a jab. Hunter swats away the attempt to clinch by Bateman. Bateman tries to clinch there but Hunter circles away.
Hunter has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Hunter moves into the clinch. Bateman breaks from the clinch.
Bateman wants to clinch. Hunter misses with a lunging right hand
and Bateman counters with a nice uppercut. Hunter avoids the head kick by Bateman.
Bateman tries to clinch there but Hunter circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bateman is looking to clinch. Hunter darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bateman wants to get back to his feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Nice strikes from Hunter there. Ground and pound from Hunter. Hunter thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Bateman kicks Hunter off and gets back to his feet. Hunter fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Hunter changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. The fight stays on the outside here - Bateman looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Hunter is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bateman sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Bateman darts in trying to clinch and Hunter moves into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bateman working hard to break the clinch. Hunter manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Bateman gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Hunter avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

A lazy left from Hunter finds it's target. Bateman fails with an attempt to clinch.

He's pushed Hunter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Bateman clinches up with Hunter and pushes him back against the cage. Bateman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Hunter looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Travis Hunter is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Hunter content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Hunter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Travis Hunter. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hunter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
