PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Pan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny T (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). T has chosen Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers - Born to Lose as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peter Pan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny T!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, David Schapiro and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
T shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pan as he avoids it easily.

Pan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching T on his heels. He'll look to pass T's guard now, I'm sure.
Pan's corner is telling him to maintain position.

T looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of T is proving hard to escape from.

T has his foot on Pan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pan works his way back into a safe position though.
T wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Pan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Danga de danga de dang - Pan scores with a four punch combination!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Pan feints and as T raises his hands in defense, Pan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Pan is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Pan stands up and waves to T to follow him.
T fails with the takedown.
Pan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pan wants it to stay on the feet.
Peter Pan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny T.

T looking to score a takedown here. Pan is defending well but T drives through and ends up in Pan's guard.
T trying to control but Pan is working from the bottom.
Pan is looking to stand up but T isn't so interested in that idea.
T trying to control but Pan is working from the bottom.

Pan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Johnny T hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Pan plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
T takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
T dives in and grabs Pan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pan pushes down on T's head and hops out.
Pan throws a nice looking combination but T bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
T avoids the head kick by Pan.
T blocks a head kick by Pan.
Pan keeps the fight on the outside.

T looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Pan!
Pan tries to lock up and control but T gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

T goes for an armbar but Pan turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Pan.

Pan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Pan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Pan is stalling in the full guard.

T has his foot on Pan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pan works his way back into a safe position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pan trying to control but T is working from the bottom.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
T not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Peter Pan wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Pan fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
T tries to clinch but Pan is having none of it.

Pan gets a clinch.
T manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Pan jumps guard and drags T to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
T looking to sit in guard and control but Pan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
T not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Pan dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


T tries to close the distance and clinch but Pan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
T uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pan.
Pan throws a head kick but T moves out of range.

Pan drives through and clinches with T against the cage.
T connects with a knee to the head.
T is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Pan is defending well.

Pan has clasped his hands together around T's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
T manages to work his way to half guard, despite Pan's best efforts.
T is holding on to half guard well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pan connects with a nice short shot to T's temple.
Pan is thwarting T's attempts to control the position.
Peter Pan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Pan stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows T to get to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Pan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Peter Pan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Pan looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
T is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

T looking for submissions off his back.

Pan decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Peter Pan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Pan shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
T trying to control but Pan postures up.
T is trying to escape back to his feet but Pan uses the scramble to pass into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
T sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pan is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Pan trying to control from half guard but T is working away.

T looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
T has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pan is working away from the top position though.

T actively working from the bottom here.
T is breathing heavily.
Pan content to control rather than advance.

T looking for submissions off his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pan wants to stand up but T is controlling the position.
Pan is trying to control. T wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Pan wants to get back to his feet.
T trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Pan manages to pass to mount!
T is working to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pan with shots to the head and body - T looks very uncomfortable down there.
T is squirming around, avoiding Pan's attempts to control the action.

Pan stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from T enables Pan to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. T manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
T wants to get back to his feet but Pan is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Pan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on T, up you get!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
T throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pan's waist but Pan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing T off to one side.
T has a takedown stuffed.
Peter Pan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny T.
T avoids the head kick by Pan.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Pan dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Pan shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. T manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Pan gets to his feet. T looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Decent striking displayed by Pan there.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from T.
Pan stuffs the takedown attempt from T. T gets slowly back to his feet.
Left hook, right uppercut from Pan.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Pan clinches up with T and pushes him back against the cage.
T is trying to pull guard but Pan turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Peter Pan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny T.
T is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Pan pulls him back up using the underhooks.
T takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Pan blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Pan is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Pan breaks the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
T takes a head kick and keeps coming.


T is rocked!

Pan drives through with a takedown into T's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
T is still in real trouble! Can Pan finish him?
Pan sitting in guard here, content to control.

T is working an open guard so Pan takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
OH! T has been rocked by a huge right hand and is in deep trouble! Pan smells blood and charges in for the finish! Pan unloads a vicious overhand right and connects to the jaw of T sending him face first to the canvas! Unbelievable!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Peter Pan!
