Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kent Phillips!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bubba Frank!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Russell Pearce and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phillips misses with a body shot.
Phillips wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Phillips lands a big right hand that sends Frank crashing to the mat! Phillips stays standing though and waves Frank back to his feet!
It looks like Bubba Frank has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Frank swings for the body but Phillips moves out of range.
Phillips misses with a wild body shot.
Phillips throws a looping overhand right but Frank ducks down to avoid it.
Frank lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
A left lands for Frank.
Frank misses with a wild combination.
Phillips drops Frank with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Frank looks back up at him and smiles so Phillips waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Phillips swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Frank just misses with a punch to the body.
Frank slips a straight right by Phillips.
Frank misses with a series of wild punches.
Phillips fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Frank manages to avoid it.
Frank throws a combination that misses
and Frank takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Frank uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Phillips.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Phillips takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Frank ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Phillips is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Frank throws a hook to the side of Phillips's head but Phillips sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Phillips circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Frank to the canvas! Frank doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Phillips keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kent Phillips!
