Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gilbert Melendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yodthanong Photirat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Gilbert Melendez has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Gilbert Melendez seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gilbert Melendez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yodthanong Photirat! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Melendez blocks the body kick.
Photirat throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Melendez's waist but Melendez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Photirat off to one side. Photirat throws a half hearted mid kick. Photirat tries to score a power double leg takedown but Melendez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Photirat somewhat. Photirat misses with a double jab.
Melendez takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Melendez scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Photirat avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Melendez. Melendez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Melendez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Melendez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Melendez is working for a kimura but Photirat is defending it quite comfortably.

Photirat really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Melendez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Melendez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Photirat sees it coming and defends easily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Photirat is defending against the submission attempts here by Melendez.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Melendez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Photirat doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Melendez. Photirat is staying active underneath Melendez, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Melendez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Photirat's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Melendez maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Photirat could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Melendez has cracked it and Photirat is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Melendez!
