Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Old English (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Old English!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Big Bob!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
English tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bob sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten English somewhat.
English has a takedown stuffed.
English connects with a nice looking jab.
English defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bob.

English scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Bob is pushing English's head away, looking to escape. English manages to hold on to the position though.
Bob tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but English wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Bob can't do much from the bottom here.
English wants to control but Bob is keeping him busy.

Bob is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on English's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
English tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bob knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Bob is trying to stand back up but English is controlling him
Bob is looking to control English's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bob avoid being mounted?
English looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bob closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. English did well to prevent Bob getting side control.
Bob prevents English from improving his position.
Bob wants to control but English is keeping him busy.
English keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
English has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bob is working away from the top position though.
Bob uses his free foot to push down on English's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for English.
Bob trying to control but English is having none of it.

Bob takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Bob looking to control but English is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Bob throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

English wants to hold on but Bob pushes him away.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
English wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Bob.
Bob thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bob sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Bob feints and then cracks English's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow English down.
Big Bob seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
English throws a body kick that misses.

English gets caught napping as Bob dives in and scores a takedown. English manages to retain guard.
Big Bob has got the better of the ground game so far.
English wants to get back to his feet but Bob is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
English is trying to hold Bob in close to prevent damage but Bob has managed to pass into half guard.
English is trying to stand.

Bob decides to return to a standing position.
English throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Bob counters with a takedown into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bob darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Bob missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Bob works his way into side control.

Bob goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, English rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Bob's guard! Nice work there by English!
Bob wants to sweep here but English controlling him for the moment.

Bob looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Bob is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
English wants to pass the guard but Bob is keeping the position.
Bob is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
English stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bob swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
English would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
English trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
English being controlled here momentarily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
English will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Bob shoots in and gets a takedown into English's guard.
Bob trying to control the position from guard on top but English is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bob pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. English is keeping the position for now.

Bob decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Bob.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

English darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Big Bob showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

English is working an open guard so Bob takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bob looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bob looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? English is fending him off so far but Bob persists. Nope, English circles away and we're back to standing.

and English counters with a two punch combo.
English swats away the attempt to clinch by Bob.

English tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Bob manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Bob throws a sloppy head kick
and English cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like Big Bob has been cut.
English lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
English stuffs the takedown attempt from Bob. Bob gets slowly back to his feet.

Bob closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Bob takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
English is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
English is looking for a sweep. Bob is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Bob is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Bob not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
English wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bob is stalling here. English is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Bob seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and English has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Bob tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but English wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Bob pushes English away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, English gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Bob wants to control but English postures up.

English is trying to get an arm triangle but Bob is defending well.
Bob is trying to control English's posture but English avoids it.
Bob is pushing English's head away, looking to escape. English manages to hold on to the position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
English trying to control the position but Bob is working away.
Bob regains half guard.

Bob pushes English off and gets back to his feet.
Bob misses with a takedown attempt - English sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Old English has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Big Bob.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bob leaves English with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Big Bob comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Bob winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
