Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alejandro Laguera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Dalbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alejandro Laguera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dave Dalbert!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laguera connects with a body shot that sends Dalbert's belly button to the back.
Dalbert tries to clinch but Laguera moves out of range.
Dalbert blocks a low kick nicely.
Laguera connects with a nice looking jab.


It looks like Dave Dalbert has been cut.
Dalbert will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Laguera throws a head kick but Dalbert moves out of range.
Laguera avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dalbert throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Laguera's waist but Laguera gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dalbert off to one side.
Sloppy strikes from Laguera. Those never looked like landing.

Dalbert has Laguera up against the cage in a clinch.

Dalbert is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Laguera can't fight it off and eventually Dalbert manages to take the fight to the floor. Laguera looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dalbert not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Laguera wants to get back to his feet but Dalbert is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dave Dalbert was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Laguera has Dalbert up against the cage in a clinch.

Laguera gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Laguera prevents Dalbert from improving his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dalbert is not content to let Laguera control the position.
Dalbert is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Laguera is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dalbert doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Laguera.

Dalbert is looking for a sweep. Laguera is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Laguera trying to control the action but Dalbert is working from the bottom.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Dalbert manages to get to full guard.

Laguera looking to sit in guard and control but Dalbert gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Dalbert should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Dalbert in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Dalbert slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dalbert postures up in Laguera's guard and throws a big left but Laguera blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dave Dalbert will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Laguera throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Dalbert decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Laguera's guard.
Dalbert won't allow Laguera to get back to his feet.
Dalbert sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Laguera wants to sweep but no luck.
Dalbert passes into half guard.
Dalbert is taking a breather. Laguera says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dave Dalbert hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Nice uppercut lands for Laguera. That snapped Dalbert's head back.

Dalbert closes the distance and clinches.
Dalbert is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Laguera is defending well.
Laguera is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Laguera is trying to push Dalbert away but Dalbert has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Dalbert tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Dalbert has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Laguera avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Dalbert tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Laguera manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Dalbert is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Dalbert has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Laguera after a bit of a struggle.

Laguera is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Dalbert blocking some punches.
Dalbert has Laguera pressed against the cage, preventing Laguera from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Laguera misses with some punches.
Laguera is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Dalbert tries for a takedown. No joy.
Laguera is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Dalbert is keeping busy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Dave Dalbert showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

A looping hook to the body misses from Laguera. Dalbert does a little dance to reset his feet.
Dalbert shoots in for a takedown but Laguera shows good takedown defense.

Laguera closes the distance and clinches.
Laguera is trying to force a seperation but Dalbert has the dominant position.

Dalbert tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Laguera just stands there and leans against the cage.
Dalbert is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Laguera works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Laguera is standing up over Dalbert. Dalbert looks to escape but Laguera dives into side control.
Dalbert takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Laguera advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Laguera controlling the position easily from mount.
Laguera trying to control but Dalbert is having none of it.
Dalbert sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Dalbert keeping hold of Laguera's head, controlling as best he can.
Dalbert is looking for a sweep. Laguera is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Laguera is just content to waste time from the top position. Dalbert takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Dalbert wants to sweep here but Laguera controlling him for the moment.

Dalbert has his feet on Laguera's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Dalbert tries to keep at a distance but Laguera has taken the fight into the clinch.
Laguera wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Laguera gets underhooks to prevent Dalbert's takedown attempt.
Dalbert goes for a takedown in the clinch but Laguera prevents it.
Dalbert changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Laguera fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Dalbert tries to close the distance and clinch up but Laguera swats him away and circles back towards the center.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Laguera has his foot on Dalbert's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dalbert works his way back into a safe position though.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alejandro Laguera.
I think Dalbert has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
