Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brad East! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryan Delman! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! East misses with a two punch combination.
East fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Delman doesn't manage to clinch there - East circles away.
Delman checks the leg kick nicely there.
A bone on bone clash there as Delman blocks the leg kick.
Delman swats away the attempt to clinch by East. Delman darts in trying to clinch and East counters with a shoot takedown. Delman fights it but they end up in guard. East looking to pass the guard. Delman utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Delman wants to stand and escape but East is having none of it. East wants to control from the top but Delman keeps moving. Delman wants to stand up but East is controlling him. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Delman can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Delman is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. East wants to get up but he can't break Delman's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. East is breathing heavily.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. East misses with the combination.
Horrible takedown by East or perhaps it was just good defense by Delman which made him look bad. Some wild striking there from East.
Delman clinches up against the cage. East takes an elbow to the forehead. Delman lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

East tries to break the clinch but Delman is controlling the position. East can't break the clinch.

Delman keeps control of East as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Delman gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. East manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Delman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. East is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. East working a defensive guard here.
Delman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with East. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. East pushes Delman off and scrambles back to his feet.

East turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and East manages to end up in side control. East has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. East throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

East looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brad East. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. and East counters with a shoot takedown. Delman fights it but they end up in guard. East wants to stand but Delman has a closed guard, so he can't escape. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. East postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. East slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. East stands up from Delman's guard - East perhaps looking for a knockout. East connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Delman! He's out on his feet! East rushes in and drops Delman with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
