PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jonny Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Erik Andersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jonny Stevens has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jonny Stevens seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jon Erik Andersen!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Andersen. No joy for Stevens on that attempt.
Stevens takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Andersen looks to score with a jab to the body but Stevens is just out of range.
Stevens shoots in looking for a takedown. Andersen tries to sprawl out of it but Stevens keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Andersen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Stevens will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Stevens is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Andersen defends it well.

Stevens changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Andersen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Andersen might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Stevens kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Stevens is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Andersen will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Stevens has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Andersen is pushing Stevens's head away, looking to escape. Stevens manages to hold on to the position though.
Stevens is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Stevens manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Andersen on his heels. He'll look to pass Andersen's guard now, I'm sure.

Andersen has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Stevens is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Andersen.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Stevens, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Jonny Stevens was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
