Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hamid Zaferani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guy Downs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Downs throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Zaferani tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Downs is in Zaferani's guard.

Downs stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zaferani swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee asks Zaferani politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Zaferani prefers to stall for the moment though.

That was a close round but I would say that Hamid Zaferani will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Zaferani stuffs the takedown attempt from Downs. Downs gets slowly back to his feet.
Zaferani throws a hook to the side of Downs's head but Downs sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Downs takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

and Downs decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Zaferani's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Downs shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Zaferani but Zaferani pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Zaferani counters with a three punch combo that has Downs backing up. Downs nods at Zaferani to acknowledge the strikes.
Guy Downs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zaferani throws a sloppy head kick and Downs moves out of range easily.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Zaferani, right into the meat.
Zaferani thuds a left hand into Downs's body.
Zaferani ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Downs moves away.
Zaferani slaps away a takedown attempt from Downs, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Downs walks into a stiff left hand from Zaferani.

Nice takedown defense from Zaferani. No joy for Downs on that attempt.
Downs is breathing heavily.
Downs shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Zaferani as he jumps to the side.
Downs tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Zaferani manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hamid Zaferani is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Zaferani lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Downs drives through and clinches with Zaferani against the cage.
Zaferani lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Zaferani prevents a takedown attempt there.
Zaferani lands an elbow that stopped Downs in his tracks for a moment.
It looks like Guy Downs has been cut.

Downs jumps guard but Zaferani stands there with Downs around his waist. Downs gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's time! Zaferani's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
