Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jeremy Jitsu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leon Garcia! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garcia fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Leon Garcia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Garcia connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Jitsu misses with a takedown attempt and Garcia counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Garcia is looking to slow Jitsu down with leg kicks. Garcia throws a nice head kick!
Garcia instigates a clinch. Garcia breaks the clinch.
Jitsu doesn't succeed with the takedown and Garcia counters by moving into the clinch. Garcia breaks from the clinch.
Garcia throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jitsu steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Garcia. That one must have hurt. Jitsu shoots and misses and Garcia counters with a nice kick to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeremy Jitsu. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jitsu is breathing heavily. Garcia thumps Jitsu with a low kick. Garcia scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Garcia plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Garcia moves into the clinch successfully.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jitsu is fighting off a takedown attempt but Garcia is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Jitsu to the mat. Jitsu regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Garcia sitting in guard here, content to control. Jitsu pulls Garcia in close to prevent any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Garcia's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Leon Garcia has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Jitsu doesn't succeed with the takedown and Garcia counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Jitsu is lucky that one didn't land flush. Garcia punishes Jitsu's body with a nice straight punch. Jitsu forces Garcia back against the cage and clinches. Jitsu fails to pull guard.
Garcia works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Jitsu is trying to pull guard but Garcia turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Garcia breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Garcia gets a clinch. Garcia pulls guard successfully.
Garcia is looking to stand up but Jitsu isn't so interested in that idea. Garcia has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Jitsu off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Garcia throws a head kick that Jitsu semi-blocks.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jitsu closes the distance and pushes Garcia back into the cage. Jitsu tries to pull guard but Garcia holds him up against the cage and eventually Jitsu drops back down to his feet.
Jitsu is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Garcia is defending well. Garcia pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Garcia lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Garcia scores with a head kick. Jitsu tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Jitsu is rocked! Jitsu drops his hands momentarily and Garcia needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Jitsu just on the top of the head. Jitsu drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Jitsu - he's done!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Leon Garcia!
