PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Piero Panzanaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darth Penguin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Piero Panzanaro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Darth Penguin!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Panzanaro throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Penguin counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Penguin.

Penguin ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Penguin no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Penguin wants to sweep but no luck.
Panzanaro tries to stand but Penguin is controlling from the bottom.
Penguin managing to control the position.
Panzanaro trying to stand up but can't free himself from Penguin's guard.
Panzanaro wants to stand and escape but instead Penguin has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Penguin wants to control from the top but Panzanaro keeps moving.
Penguin's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Penguin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Panzanaro works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Penguin won't allow Panzanaro to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Penguin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Panzanaro is keeping the position for now.
Panzanaro avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Panzanaro wants to get back to his feet but Penguin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Penguin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Penguin postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Panzanaro is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Penguin, into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Penguin has a closed guard, preventing Panzanaro from standing up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Penguin is controlling Panzanaro's posture.
Penguin manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Penguin lands with some strikes.
A nice elbow there by Penguin.
Penguin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Penguin scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Panzanaro?
Penguin scoring with strikes but Panzanaro is staying in there.
Panzanaro's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Penguin get's back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Panzanaro works over Penguin's head and body with a nice combination.
Panzanaro misses with a jab, cross combination.
Penguin shoots in but Panzanaro avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Panzanaro scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Penguin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Panzanaro has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Panzanaro can't break the clinch.
Penguin jumps guard but Panzanaro stands there with Penguin around his waist. Penguin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Panzanaro is trying to break the clinch but Penguin is controlling him.

Penguin gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Penguin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Panzanaro works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Penguin gets to his feet. Panzanaro looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Panzanaro tries to bum rush Penguin with a series of wild strikes but Penguin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Panzanaro throws a right and a left that both miss.
Penguin moves in looking to clinch but Panzanaro pushes him off.

Penguin scores a takedown into full mount!
Penguin wants to control the action but instead Panzanaro gets a body lock and reverses into Penguin's guard! Nice work!

Penguin manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Penguin is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Penguin!
