PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Itsik Obas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Trejo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Obas comes to the cage accompanied by Perfect Gentelman. Trejo has chosen Dire Straits- Six Blade Knife as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Danny Trejo!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trejo is looking to clinch but Obas is avoiding it.
Trejo shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Trejo fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Obas closes the distance but Trejo moves to the side

and Trejo counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Obas!
Obas is looking to get to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Trejo content just to control the position here.

Trejo trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Obas regains half guard.

Obas wants to improve his position but Trejo is controlling well.

Danny Trejo has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Obas wants to clinch.
Trejo moves out of range of the leg kick from Obas.
Itsik Obas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Obas closes the distance but Trejo moves to the side

and Trejo counters by moving into the clinch.
Obas is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Trejo is keeping busy.

Obas is looking to control Trejo's arms but Trejo gets an underhook and turns him. Now Obas has his back to the cage.

Trejo closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Obas's guard.
Trejo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Obas tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Trejo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Nice straight punches there by Trejo. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Trejo.


It looks like Itsik Obas has been cut.
Obas moves in looking to clinch but Trejo pushes him off.

Trejo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Trejo wants to take a breather but Obas is having none of it.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Obas takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Trejo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Obas is fending him off so far but Trejo persists. Nope, Obas circles away and we're back to standing.

Itsik Obas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Trejo shoots for a double leg takedown but Obas sprawls well. He's pushed Trejo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Whack! Obas lands a heavy head kick that drops Trejo. The ref tackles Obas to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Trejo was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:11 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Itsik Obas!
