Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Sam Margolis and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Xoul throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kongo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Xoul is in Kongo's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Xoul accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Xoul is pushing down on Kongo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kongo is fighting to maintain full guard but Xoul has managed to sneak the leg through.

Kongo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kongo tries to get out of the position.

Kongo is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Xoul feints and as Kongo raises his hands in defense, Xoul changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Kongo can't keep his opponent in guard - Xoul advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Kongo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Xoul pulls his head out easily.

Kongo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Xoul looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kongo with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kongo is looking to control Xoul's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kongo avoid being mounted?
Kongo is defending against the submission attempts here by Xoul.
Xoul takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Xoul passes the guard and advances to mount!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Kongo is looking to improve his position but Xoul isn't that keen on the idea.

Kongo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Xoul on the ground.
Xoul postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kongo looks a forlorn figure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kongo wants to get back to his feet.
Kongo is breathing heavily.
Xoul avoids the attempt from Kongo to control.

Xoul fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Xoul lands with some strikes.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Kongo is trying hard to land a takedown here. Xoul sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Xoul is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Xoul postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kongo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Xoul controls the pace.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Xoul in particular looking to stall.

Etan Xoul seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Xoul feints and as Kongo raises his hands in defense, Xoul changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Xoul is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kongo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kongo has escaped and now he's on top!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kongo postures up.
Xoul has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kongo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Xoul holds on and takes a little breather.

Xoul is pressing down on Kongo's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Xoul doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Kongo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Xoul manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
