The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makunouchi shoots in and drives through. Gump sprawls well.
Gump gets caught flat footed, as Makunouchi shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Makunouchi throws a big elbow that misses.
Gump wants to stand and escape but Makunouchi is having none of it.
Makunouchi working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Makunouchi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Makunouchi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gump swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Makunouchi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gump has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Makunouchi has managed to get both his arms back between Gump's legs - danger averted.

Makunouchi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gump tries to avoid it but Makunouchi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gump to the ground. Gump escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
