Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miyamoto Usagi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Felix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Junior Felix acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Miyamoto Usagi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Junior Felix!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jonathan Paton and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Usagi tries to clinch there but Felix circles away.
Usagi throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Usagi is trying hard to land a takedown here. Felix sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Usagi comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Usagi swinging wildly here.

Usagi shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Felix wants to improve his position but Usagi is controlling well.

Usagi is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Felix sees it coming and defends easily.

Usagi wants to work for an arm triangle but Felix is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Felix tries to kick Usagi off but Usagi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Usagi wants to pass the guard but Felix is defending well.

Usagi trying to work for an americana but Felix has managed to regain full guard.

Felix looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Usagi tries to free his leg and advance position but Felix is retaining full guard.

Usagi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Felix is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Usagi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Felix manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Usagi has Felix in his guard.
Usagi is trying to keep Felix in close.

Usagi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Felix stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Usagi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Usagi wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

That was a close round but I would say that Miyamoto Usagi will probably get the nod.

Usagi just misses with a punch to the body.
Felix displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Usagi.

Usagi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Felix as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miyamoto Usagi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Usagi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Felix is fending him off so far but Usagi persists. Nope, Felix circles away and we're back to standing.
Usagi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Felix manages to avoid it.

Felix needs to keep his hands up - Usagi had a free shot at his head there.

Usagi throws a body punch but Felix moves out of range.
Usagi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Felix counters with an outside leg kick.
Felix moves out of range of the strikes.
Felix misses with a takedown attempt - Usagi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Felix closes this distance looking for a takedown but Usagi circles away.
Usagi fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Felix manages to avoid it.

Usagi shoots in and bounces Felix off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Usagi won't allow Felix to sweep him here.

Usagi is really struggling to control Felix but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Usagi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Miyamoto Usagi wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Usagi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Felix manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Usagi on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Felix. Felix obviously looking to wear him down.
Usagi misses with a takedown
and Felix counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Usagi tries to clinch but Felix is having none of it.

Usagi drives through with a takedown into guard.

Usagi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Usagi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Usagi looking to sit in guard and control but Felix gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Miyamoto Usagi dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Usagi looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Felix tries to roll over but Usagi keeps him under control.
Felix is pressing down on Usagi's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Usagi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Felix swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Miyamoto Usagi.

Usagi shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Felix is trying to defend but Usagi finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Usagi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Felix is just riding it out for now. Usagi eventually gives up the hold.

Felix bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Usagi's guard.

Felix postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Usagi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Felix defends well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Felix pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Usagi is keeping the position for now.
This has been an exciting period of action!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Miyamoto Usagi.
Well Usagi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
