PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wirm Kness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordan Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ward has chosen I will not bow as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wirm Kness!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jordan Ward!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kness bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Ward jabs at Kness's body.
Ward throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kness stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ward bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kness's head.
Kness tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ward paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ward misses with an uppercut. Kness saw that one coming.
Kness takes one on the button.
Ward changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Jordan Ward seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kness takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Ward misses with a double jab.
Kness walks into a jab.
Kness keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kness ducks under a wild hook from Ward.
Ward tries a low kick but Kness avoids it.
Ward is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ward stuffs the takedown attempt from Kness. Kness gets slowly back to his feet.
Ward works Kness's body with a nice hook.
Ward swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Kness counters with a single leg into guard. Ward didn't expect that.
Kness has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ward bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kness's guard.
Kness avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Ward pushing down on Kness's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Kness is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ward is trying to control the action in half guard but Kness is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kness is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Ward is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Ward sitting and controlling from the half guard.

Kness has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Ward escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Ward!
Kness is breathing heavily.
Kness is not content to let Ward control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sloppy strikes there by Ward.
Kness tries to buck Ward off but Ward is having none of it.

Ward has hold of Kness's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Kness tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Ward cranks the arm and Kness screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Kness, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jordan Ward!
Jordan Ward decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
