The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blanchard throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Blanchard keeps the fight on the outside.
Vermeulen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Blanchard swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Blanchard throws a shot to the body.
Blanchard will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Vermeulen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Blanchard pinned against the cage. Blanchard gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Vermeulen is trying hard to land a takedown here. Blanchard sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Blanchard paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Blanchard misses with a looping left.
Vermeulen has taken the fight to the clinch.

Blanchard swings for the body but Vermeulen moves out of range.
Vermeulen tries to clinch there but Blanchard circles away.

and Blanchard counters with a nice body shot.
Tully Blanchard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Darryl Vermeulen.
Vermeulen looks gassed!
Vermeulen tries to close the distance and clinch but Blanchard swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Blanchard fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Vermeulen on the side of the head.
Vermeulen takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Vermeulen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Blanchard lands with a straight right. Vermeulen didn't see that one coming.
Blanchard bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
It looks like Darryl Vermeulen has been cut.
Blanchard swats away the attempt to clinch by Vermeulen.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nice uppercut lands for Blanchard. That snapped Vermeulen's head back.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vermeulen swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Blanchard changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Blanchard connects with a single shot there.

and Blanchard counters with a left and a right that stings Vermeulen.
