The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamaha shoots in but no luck this time.
Yamaha dives in and grabs Shamatov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shamatov pushes down on Yamaha's head and hops out.
Shamatov leaves Yamaha with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jax Yamaha. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yamaha uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Shamatov.
Shamatov tries to clinch but Yamaha moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Yamaha is defended easily by Shamatov.

Yamaha fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Shamatov to the ground. Yamaha is now in Shamatov's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shamatov avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Yamaha.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shamatov can do anything to dispel that myth.
