Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Little Secrets - Passion Pit. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Griffin circles away.
Griffin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones.
Jones shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maverick Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Griffin counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Griffin throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Jones's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Griffin dives in looking to finish as Jones flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Griffin's strikes! Griffin is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Jones's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Jones was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
