Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Patrick Hester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Hirohito Nitta and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith shoots in for a double leg but Hester sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hester tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance.
Hester tries to land a leg kick but Smith saw it coming and moves away.
Hester throws a head kick that misses.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hester tries to clinch but Smith moves out of range.
Smith bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Smith is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hester knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hester is looking for a sweep.
Smith working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Smith passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Hester!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Hester is controlling an arm, preventing Smith from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Smith with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Hester tries to buck Smith off but he can't manage it.
Smith goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Hester is on top in guard.
Smith had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hester is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Smith Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hester's back instead.
Hester manages to reverse the position and now he's in Smith's guard. Nice work there by Hester.
That's six minutes gone in the round.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smith is on top in guard.
Smith drops back looking for a leg! Hester is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hester manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Hester's guard.
Smith is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hester swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Smith passes Hester's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's seven minutes gone in the round.
Smith passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Hester!
Smith works his way to his opponent's back.
Hester defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Smith working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Hester is doing well to defend. Smith seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Hester is forced to tap and this one is over!
