Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Xavier Bane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank McMurdoch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bane's entrance music is Ego Draconis. A fine choice. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank McMurdoch! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Kavanagh and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McMurdoch throws a good cross that connects.
It looks like Xavier Bane has been cut. Bane uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McMurdoch. McMurdoch swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Bane counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. McMurdoch misses with a body shot
and Bane counters with a straight right hand. Bane staying out of range there. A jab from Bane misses. McMurdoch throws a sloppy body shot
and Bane counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. McMurdoch throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A telegraphed right hand from McMurdoch misses the target. Bane works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. McMurdoch rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bane counters with a lovely shot to the body. McMurdoch throws a poor cross that misses
and Bane counters with a nice double leg into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Well, if Bane is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Bane is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. McMurdoch is staying active underneath Bane, who seems content to just control the action from this position. McMurdoch has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bane is working away from the top position though. Bane slows the pace down in half guard.

McMurdoch looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Bane passes to side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bane lands a nice forearm strike. McMurdoch is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The ground and pound from Bane seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Bane is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down McMurdoch's shoulder. That is not cool. Bane connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused McMurdoch some visible discomfort.
McMurdoch is pushing Bane's head away, looking to escape. Bane manages to hold on to the position though. McMurdoch is looking for a sweep. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Bane cracks McMurdoch with an elbow. That is naaassty.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! McMurdoch wants to control but Bane postures up. McMurdoch is looking for a sweep. McMurdoch takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

McMurdoch is looking to regain half guard here but Bane keeps moving and retains side control. McMurdoch is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Bane prevents McMurdoch from escaping the position. Bane is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt McMurdoch will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Bane in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Bane working the head with strikes. Bane is chipping away with strikes.
McMurdoch is rocked! Bane lands a strong strike to the head of McMurdoch. That's dazed him! Bane looking to finish here. McMurdoch is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Bane lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
