Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Neil Samuelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Erickson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Erickson has chosen Of Wolf And Man - Metallica as his entrance music. Lance Erickson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Neil Samuelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lance Erickson! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Samuelson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Samuelson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Samuelson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Erickson is desperately trying to improve his position but Samuelson has a good base and remains in mount. Samuelson is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Erickson has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Erickson tries to lock up and control but Samuelson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Samuelson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Erickson is bucking up trying to escape but Samuelson cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Erickson taking shots to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round. Erickson is desperately trying to improve his position but Samuelson has a good base and remains in mount. Samuelson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Samuelson wants to finish this one by submission but Erickson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Samuelson. Samuelson controlling his opponent. Erickson tries to reverse the position but Samuelson maintains control. Erickson is bucking up trying to escape but Samuelson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Erickson defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Samuelson. Samuelson prevents Erickson from getting the reversal. Erickson regains half guard. Erickson actively working from the bottom here. Erickson looks gassed! Samuelson is keen to just control but Erickson is a slippery customer. Erickson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Erickson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Samuelson scores with a couple of nice shots. Samuelson trying to pass the guard but Erickson defending well. Samuelson trying to control the pace. Samuelson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Samuelson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Erickson is trying to get back to full guard. Erickson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Samuelson. Erickson is looking to control Samuelson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Erickson avoid being mounted? Erickson is trying to stand up here but Samuelson is controlling him well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Samuelson looks for a takedown but Erickson sprawls well. Erickson shoots for a double leg takedown but Samuelson sprawls well. He's pushed Erickson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Samuelson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Erickson's guard. Samuelson looking to pass the guard. Erickson pulls Samuelson in close to prevent any damage. Erickson keeping moving, preventing Samuelson from controlling successfully. Erickson controls Samuelson momentarily but Samuelson frees himself. Samuelson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Samuelson scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Erickson?

Samuelson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Erickson for as long as he can get away with. Erickson can't escape the position.
Samuelson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Samuelson controlling the pace for now. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Erickson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Samuelson scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Erickson?
Samuelson is in the full mount, landing strikes. Erickson wants to hold on but Samuelson pushes him away. Samuelson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Erickson is looking to improve his position but Samuelson isn't that keen on the idea. Samuelson fails to take his opponent's back. Samuelson trying to control but Erickson is having none of it.

Samuelson controlling the pace for now. Samuelson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
