Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yayutee Da Gama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Floyd Johnson!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Chad Campbell and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson misses with a takedown attempt
letting Da Gama counter with a right hand.
A jab from Johnson misses.
Johnson swats away the attempt to clinch by Da Gama.
Johnson shoots for a takedown but Da Gama saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Da Gama misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Da Gama bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Da Gama shoots in looking for a takedown. Johnson tries to sprawl out of it but Da Gama keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Johnson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Da Gama throws a right hand that Johnson ducks under and follows up with a left that Johnson also avoids with ease.
Johnson misses with a takedown attempt - Da Gama sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Yayutee Da Gama has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Floyd Johnson.
Johnson misses with a left hand
and Da Gama counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Da Gama.
Da Gama jumps guard but Johnson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Johnson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Da Gama closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Johnson quickly recovers to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Johnson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Johnson.
Johnson wants to get back to his feet but Da Gama is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Johnson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Johnson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Johnson lands with some strikes.
Johnson scoring with strikes but Da Gama is staying in there.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Johnson lands a nice shot to the head.
Da Gama is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Johnson looking to finish Da Gama with some ground and pound. This is bad for Da Gama!
Oh Da Gama is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Johnson is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Da Gama goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Johnson!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Floyd Johnson!
