Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, josh Reed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Hess!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reed shoots in and gets a takedown into Hess's guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Hess looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Reed loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Hess working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Reed doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Reed manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Reed tries to free his leg and advance position but Hess is retaining full guard.

Hess escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Reed gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Reed has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Reed scoring with punches to the head and body.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Reed accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Reed working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Reed got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hess has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Reed has managed to get both his arms back between Hess's legs - danger averted.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hess has his foot on Reed's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Reed works his way back into a safe position though.

Hess is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Reed is in close to Hess's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Reed advances position into side control!
Reed is working Hess over with some ground and pound from side control.
Reed knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hess on the ground.
Reed grinds an elbow into Hess's temple.
Reed working the head with strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Reed landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Hess takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.


Hess is rocked!
Reed cracks Hess with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Reed immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Hess is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Reed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). josh Reed!
