PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Koby Stott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ward kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is I will not bow. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jordan Ward!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Koby Stott!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stott lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ward circles away quickly and effectively.
Stott fails to land with a series of punches.
Stott fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ward checks it well.
Stott lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Jordan Ward has been cut.

Stott gets a clinch.
Stott has Ward pressed against the ropes.
Stott avoiding damage as Ward throws knees to the body.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Stott with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Stott throws an elbow but it misses.
Ward is trying to stall.
Stott blocks a body shot from Ward.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Stott takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Ward is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Stott tries to break the clinch but Ward is controlling the position.

Ward tries to throw a body punch but Stott avoids it by throwing Ward back against the ropes.

Ward tries to work over Stott's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Ward tries to pull guard but Stott forces him back to his feet, against the ropes.

Ward misses with some punches.

Stott breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Ward tries to keep at a distance but Stott has taken the fight into the clinch.
Stott tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ward smiles and moves away.
Stott throws a right hand that Ward ducks under and follows up with a left that Ward also avoids with ease.
Stott throws a right and a left that both miss.
Stott uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ward.

Stott moves into the clinch successfully.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Stott wants to break the clinch but can't.
Stott misses with an elbow strike.
Stott prevents a body shot from Ward.
Stott has Ward pressed against the ropes, preventing Ward from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Stott wants to take the fight to the mat but Ward manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Jordan Ward has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Koby Stott.

Stott throws a low kick but it's checked well by Ward.

Stott tries to circle away but Ward has him pinned against the ropes.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Stott is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ward is controlling him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ward thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Ward passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Ward tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Stott explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Stott throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ward.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Koby Stott dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jordan Ward's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


The fight stays on the outside here - Stott looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ward defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Stott.
Ward throws a series of punches but Stott avoids them all with ease.
Stott will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Stott shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Stott shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ward pinned against the ropes. Ward gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Ward decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Stott avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ward.

Ward is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stott doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ward.
Stott is not content to let Ward control the position.
Ward stops Stott from getting back to his feet.
Stott really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ward. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ward is trying to control. Stott wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Stott is looking to control Ward's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stott avoid being mounted?

Ward is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Stott is staying active underneath Ward, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Ward tries to pass the half guard into mount. Stott knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Stott is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ward misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Stott.
Ward throws a body punch but Stott moves out of range.
Stott tries to bum rush Ward with a series of wild strikes but Ward uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Stott moves in looking to clinch but Ward pushes him off.
Stott will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Stott tries to clinch up but Ward circles away and keeps his distance.

Stott looks to land a combination but Ward avoids it well.
Stott throws a right hand that Ward ducks under and follows up with a left that Ward also avoids with ease.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Ward, as that shot connected.
Koby Stott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ward looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Ward scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Ward throws an overhand right that lands on Stott's shoulder, as Stott tries to avoid the shot.
Ward scores with a one two! Stott had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Stott misses with a series of wild punches.

Stott throws a right and a left that Ward avoids nicely.

Ward lands with a hook. Stott tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Ward throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Koby Stott is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The crowd cheers as Ward lands an impressive looking overhand right. Stott doesn't seem phased though.
Stott misses with a two punch combination.
Stott will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Stott on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Ward. Ward obviously looking to wear him down.
Stott takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Stott rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ward moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Stott takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Ward misses with a wild body shot.
Ward works Stott's body with a nice hook.
Ward swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Stott.
Stott is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Ward fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stott manages to avoid it.

Stott throws a front kick aimed at Ward's knee but Ward avoids it well.
Ward throws a leg kick which misses Stott's front leg but catches the back leg as Stott tries to avoid it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ward scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jordan Ward showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Ward has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Jordan Ward decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
