PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sigfredo Pineda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bik Mesh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pineda comes to the cage accompanied by Now or Never by Dope. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Sigfredo Pineda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bik Mesh!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Mesh.
Pineda feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Mesh's calf.
Pineda lands with a cross.
Mesh looks to throw the jab but Pineda is out of range.
Pineda moves out of range of the body kick from Mesh.

Mesh gets caught napping as Pineda dives in and scores a takedown. Mesh manages to retain guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Pineda drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pineda jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Pineda controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Pineda pushing down on Mesh's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Mesh is looking to escape.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pineda controlling the action here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pineda seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mesh for as long as he can get away with.

Pineda looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Pineda looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pineda has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We're going to have a standup here because Sigfredo Pineda wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Pineda scores with a punch to the head.
Mesh steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Pineda. That one must have hurt.
Mesh looks gassed!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pineda rushes Mesh and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Knees to the body from Pineda.
Pineda connects with a nasty looking knee right to Mesh's face.


It looks like Bik Mesh has been cut.
Mesh takes a knee right on the jaw!
Pineda lands a knee to the body.
Pineda landing some nice looking knees to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pineda lands a damaging elbow.

Pineda gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Mesh regains guard.

Pineda stands up from Mesh's guard - Pineda perhaps looking for a knockout.
Pineda lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Mesh takes a jab right on the kisser.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mesh takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Pineda drives through and clinches with Mesh against the cage.
Pineda landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Pineda works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pineda controls from within his opponent's guard.

Pineda drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pineda jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Pineda looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sigfredo Pineda dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Bik Mesh's cut.
That's time! Pineda's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Pineda lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
An inside leg kick lands from Pineda.
The fighters circle, before Pineda throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Mesh's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Pineda lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Sigfredo Pineda!
After the fight, Sigfredo Pineda was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
