Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Austin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Igor Klaskinov! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Klaskinov throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Austin tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Klaskinov is in Austin's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Klaskinov trying to control the position from guard on top but Austin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Austin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Klaskinov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Austin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Austin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Klaskinov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Klaskinov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Klaskinov looking to pass the guard. Klaskinov throws a big right hand that misses. Austin trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Klaskinov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
This has been an exciting period of action! Klaskinov wants to pass the guard but Austin is keeping the position. Klaskinov throwing strikes from guard but Austin blocks nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Austin wants to sweep here but Klaskinov controlling him for the moment. Klaskinov throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Klaskinov tries to free his leg and advance position but Austin is retaining full guard. Austin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Klaskinov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Klaskinov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Austin wants to sweep here but Klaskinov controlling him for the moment. Klaskinov lands a couple of elbows. Klaskinov drops back looking for a leg! Austin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Austin manages to kick Klaskinov off! Klaskinov jumps back into Austin's guard. Austin has his foot on Klaskinov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Klaskinov works his way back into a safe position though. Austin scores with a short punch from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Klaskinov is looking to work some ground and pound but Austin has wrist control. Klaskinov working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Klaskinov wants to pass the guard but Austin is keeping the position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Austin is looking for a triangle but Klaskinov pushes his legs off easily.
Austin looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Klaskinov's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Klaskinov drops back looking for a leg! Austin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Austin manages to kick Klaskinov off! Klaskinov jumps back into Austin's guard. Klaskinov lands a couple of elbows. Austin has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Klaskinov should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Austin has tightened it up now! Klaskinov should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
