Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hans Davids! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dante Overslam! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Overslam closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Davids to the mat! Davids manages to get full guard. Overslam wants to stand and escape but instead Davids has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Davids stops Overslam from standing up. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Overslam can do anything to dispel that myth. Overslam wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Davids manages to pass to side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Overslam is trying to stand up here but Davids is controlling him well. Davids is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Overslam is trying to stand but he's just given Davids his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davids trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Davids working for a choke but Overslam is defending well. Davids tries to get the hooks in deep but Overslam pushed the leg off. Overslam controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davids really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Overslam. Will Davids go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

That's three minutes gone in the round. Davids controlling the position well here. Overslam rolled but Davids kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Overslam is trying to stand back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Overslam fending off the submission attempt from Davids. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Good control from Davids. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Hans Davids will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Davids takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
It looks like Hans Davids has been cut. Overslam bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Overslam decides to stand back up. Overslam steps back and let's Davids get back to his feet. Overslam closes the distance and lands a one-two. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Davids moves into the clinch. Overslam decides to pull guard. Davids tries to free his leg and advance position but Overslam is retaining full guard. Overslam wants to get back to his feet but Davids is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Davids stands up from guard. Let's bang! Overslam looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Davids!
That's one minute gone in the round. Overslam trying to control but Davids is having none of it. Davids tries to get back to half guard but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Overslam content just to control the position here. Davids can't escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davids regains half guard. Davids trying to hold on to Overslam's head to control him but Overslam postures up.
Overslam controlling the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Dante Overslam. Excellent takedown into side control there by Overslam. Overslam wants to stand but Davids has his arm trapped. Overslam lands a nice forearm strike.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Overslam lands a decent elbow from side control. Overslam moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Overslam is trying to ground and pound but Davids uses the momentary lack of control by Overslam to regain half guard. It looks like Overslam is going to stand back up.
Overslam stops Davids from getting back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Davids is looking to improve his position.
Overslam controlling the action here. Davids wants to control but Overslam is keeping busy and won't allow it. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Overslam not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Davids is looking for a sweep. Overslam is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Overslam trying to pass the guard but Davids defending well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dante Overslam showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Hans Davids's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Davids looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Overslam is fending him off so far but Davids persists. Nope, Overslam circles away and we're back to standing. Overslam looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Overslam is stalling in the full guard. Overslam really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Davids. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Davids is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Overslam defends well. Davids is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Overslam is aware though and is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Overslam stands up from guard. Let's bang! Davids misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Overslam.
Davids shoots in for a takedown but Overslam shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Overslam lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Overslam shoots in and bounces Davids off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Overslam controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Overslam is looking to stand up but Davids won't let him. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Overslam distracts Davids with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Overslam stays in close to Davids's body and controls the position. Davids has a closed guard, preventing Overslam from standing up.
Dante Overslam has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Davids gets caught napping as Overslam dives in and scores a takedown. Davids manages to retain guard. Overslam not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dante Overslam has got the better of the ground game so far. Davids throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Overslam escapes and throws Davids's legs to the side, diving into side control! Overslam has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Overslam controlling the position. Davids prevents Overslam from improving position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Davids is trying to escape the position but Overslam is controlling the position. Let's hope that Overslam has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Davids pushes Overslam away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Overslam gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
And that's the end of the fight! Dante Overslam comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Overslam has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
