Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jambo Alvez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fiodor Kuzniecow! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Fedor Mirinova and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alvez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kuzniecow to the mat! Kuzniecow manages to get full guard. Kuzniecow is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Alvez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Alvez controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Alvez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alvez controlling from the top position. Alvez is looking to work some ground and pound but Kuzniecow has wrist control. Alvez tries to free his leg and advance position but Kuzniecow is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alvez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Jambo Alvez wasn't doing enough on the ground. Alvez misses with the combination.
Kuzniecow with a lazy takedown attempt and Alvez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kuzniecow's guard now. Alvez is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alvez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jambo Alvez. Alvez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Alvez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kuzniecow is just riding it out for now. Alvez eventually gives up the hold. Kuzniecow taking some punishment here, with Alvez in his half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alvez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Kuzniecow avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Alvez. Kuzniecow is staying active underneath Alvez, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Alvez content to control rather than advance. Alvez working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Alvez lands a nice short elbow. Kuzniecow wants to control but Alvez is keeping busy and won't allow it. Alvez looks to land a strike but Kuzniecow avoids it nicely and regains full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Alvez trying to control the position from guard on top but Kuzniecow is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kuzniecow working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Alvez. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jambo Alvez dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Kuzniecow has his takedown stuffed and Alvez counters with a left and a right that stings Kuzniecow. Alvez shoots in and gets a takedown into Kuzniecow's guard. Alvez stands up over Kuzniecow, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Alvez showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Alvez looking to sit in guard and control but Kuzniecow gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Alvez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alvez is pulling down on Kuzniecow's head to control his posture. Kuzniecow wants to control from the top but Alvez keeps moving. Jambo Alvez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Alvez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kuzniecow wants to control from the top but Alvez keeps moving. Alvez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Fiodor Kuzniecow was stalling too much, according to the referee. A momentary lapse in concentration from Kuzniecow enables Alvez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kuzniecow manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Alvez sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kuzniecow's guard. Alvez looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Alvez wants to control but Kuzniecow is keeping him busy. Alvez throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Alvez lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. This has been an exciting period of action! Alvez not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alvez trying to mount his opponent but Kuzniecow defends it. Alvez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Alvez slips a nice elbow through Kuzniecow's hands, connecting with Kuzniecow's forehead. Alvez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kuzniecow can do to turn this around? Alvez controlling the action here. Alvez lands with a punch from half guard.

Alvez closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kuzniecow quickly recovers to half guard. Alvez landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Alvez is looking to advance position but Kuzniecow won't allow it. Alvez performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Kuzniecow on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Alvez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kuzniecow has managed to free his arm - good work.

Alvez creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kuzniecow sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Alvez connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kuzniecow some visible discomfort.
Alvez thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Kuzniecow takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Alvez working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kuzniecow stops Alvez from passing to mount. Kuzniecow parries the strikes from Alvez easily there. Alvez is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kuzniecow to escape.
And that's the end of the fight! Jambo Alvez showed his dominance in that final round. Well Alvez has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
