Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pete Tippin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dimitri Lavonia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pete Tippin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dimitri Lavonia! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lavonia wants to clinch but Tippin slips to the side and Tippin counters with a thumping low kick. Lavonia tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Lavonia closes the distance looking to clinch and Tippin counters with a good, hard body kick but Lavonia shrugs it off. Tippin throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Tippin lands a right hook to the body.
Tippin closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lavonia did well to prevent Tippin getting side control. Lavonia wants to control but Tippin is keeping busy and won't allow it. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Tippin connects with a nice short shot to Lavonia's temple. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Still in half guard, Tippin seems content to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tippin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Lavonia is defending against the submission attempts here by Tippin.
Lavonia tries to kick Tippin off but Tippin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Tippin perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Tippin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lavonia for as long as he can get away with.

We're going to have a standup here because Pete Tippin wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Lavonia doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Lavonia moves into the clinch. Lavonia prevents Tippin from breaking the clinch. Tippin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A decent looking cross lands there for Tippin. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Tippin is looking to land body kicks. Tippin drives through with a takedown into Lavonia's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Tippin is stalling in the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lavonia has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Tippin has passed into side control.
Lavonia wants to control but Tippin postures up. Lavonia throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land. You can see the frustration on Lavonia's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Tippin working the ground and pound from side control. Lavonia seems a little lost for a moment, as Tippin dominates the positioning. Tippin looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tippin controls the position. Tippin trying to control the position but Lavonia is working away. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lavonia is being controlled here. Tippin wants to control but Lavonia is keeping him busy. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lavonia seems a little lost for a moment, as Tippin dominates the positioning.

Tippin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tippin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Tippin has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lavonia looks like he's trying to stand up.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Tippin wants to work for an arm triangle but Lavonia is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Tippin in particular looking to stall. Tippin is keen to just control but Lavonia is a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lavonia is trying to control but can't.
Tippin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lavonia does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

A combination from Tippin does no damage. Pete Tippin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Tippin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tippin controls the position. Tippin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lavonia can do to turn this around?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tippin is looking to take a break and control but Lavonia is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Tippin slows the pace down. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The ref stands the fighters back up because Pete Tippin just wasn't active enough. Lavonia is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Tippin clinches up with Lavonia and pushes him back against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tippin drags the fight down to the ground.
Tippin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lavonia manages to get himself to full guard.
Tippin works a leg free and moves into half guard. Tippin performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Lavonia wants to improve his position but Tippin is controlling well.
Tippin is taking a breather. Lavonia says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lavonia on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Lavonia trying to get back to full guard but Tippin takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Lavonia tries to hold on but Tippin pushes him away. Lavonia might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Tippin kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Tippin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pete Tippin dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Lavonia gets caught flat footed, as Tippin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Tippin pushes down on Lavonia's leg and manages to get into half guard. Tippin seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Tippin passes the guard and advances to mount! Tippin controlling from mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lavonia tries to hold on but Tippin postures up. Lavonia tries to improve his position but Tippin has taken his back! Tippin has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Lavonia tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Tippin pushes Lavonia away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
