PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Serious Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kit Carson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Black kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Megadeth Public Enemy No.1. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Carson avoids it really well and circles away.
Black keeps the fight on the outside.
Carson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Black shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Carson sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carson controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Carson tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Black not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Ground and pound from Black.
Carson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Carson tries to get to full guard but Black has control of the leg.
Black wants to take a breather but Carson is having none of it.
Black throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Carson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Black has gone for a leg lock! Carson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Black's guard.
Black is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Black is working hard here to advance position.
Carson is working Black over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Carson stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Carson has a takedown stuffed.
Black swats away the attempt to clinch by Carson.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Black avoids the body shot from Carson.
Black could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Black shoots in for a takedown but Carson shows good takedown defense.
Black is breathing heavily.
Black closes this distance looking for a takedown but Carson circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Serious Black. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Black tries to clinch but Carson is having none of it.
Carson swings for the body but Black moves out of range.

Carson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Black on his heels. He'll look to pass Black's guard now, I'm sure.

Carson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Carson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Carson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Kit Carson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Carson stuffs the takedown.
Black shoots for a double leg takedown but Carson sprawls well. He's pushed Black's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Carson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Carson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Carson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Carson stands up and beckons Black to join him on the feet.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Carson stands and throws Black's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Carson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Black tries to roll over but Carson keeps him under control.
Carson passes to side control.
Carson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Black tries to bench press Carson off him but Carson keeps the position.

Black on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Black tries to get out of the position.

Carson advances nicely into full mount.

Carson with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Carson has hold of Black's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Black manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
