Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jamey Mills! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pertti Peto! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Peto fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mills, pushing him back against the cage. A frustrated look appears on Peto's face as he tries to break the clinch. Mills has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Peto after a bit of a struggle. Peto stops a takedown attempt from Mills.
Mills drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamey Mills. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mills is trying to trip Peto. He has hold of a leg but Peto is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Mills persists though and gets the takedown into guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Peto wants to sweep but no luck. Peto has his foot on Mills's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mills works his way back into a safe position though. Mills scoring with some ground and pound. Peto preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mills's corner is telling him to maintain position. Peto is trying to keep Mills in close.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mills throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Mills throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Peto works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Peto looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mills loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mills being controlled here momentarily. Peto is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Peto keeping moving, preventing Mills from controlling successfully. Peto is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Mills in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Peto utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Peto is adopting a defensive guard. Peto is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mills defends well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Peto looking to control.
Peto keeping moving, preventing Mills from controlling successfully. Mills is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Peto is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Mills is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Peto is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Peto not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Mills works his way to full guard. Good work. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Peto got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mills has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Peto has managed to get both his arms back between Mills's legs - danger averted. Peto trying to control but Mills is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mills preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Peto postures up.
Peto trying to control the position from guard on top but Mills is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Peto postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Mills is trying to control the position but Peto postures up. Peto is looking to stand up but Mills won't let him. Mills keeping full guard, as Peto tries to pass. Peto is stalling in the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Pertti Peto wasn't active enough on the ground. A jab from Mills finds it's way through Peto's defenses. Peto throws a head kick that misses. Peto throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mills sees it coming and avoids it easily. Peto connects with a body shot. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Peto buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Peto rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mills moves out of range and avoids them all easily. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Mills checks a leg kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Pertti Peto will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Mills uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Peto. Peto keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Peto turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Mills shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Peto defends it nicely. A shot to the liver by Peto. Beautiful body shot. Mills avoids the head kick by Peto.
Peto lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Peto throws a nice outside leg kick. Peto fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Mills.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peto slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Peto throws a sloppy head kick and Mills moves out of range easily. Peto lands with a kick to the temple. Mills shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Peto swings away with a leg kick that misses. Peto connects with a good right hand that stumbles Mills. Mills circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Mills is rocked! Nice body kick from Peto. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Peto lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Mills out cold! Mills is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!
