Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Takanori Gomi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mendes has chosen Dj MEG - Make You Move as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gomi swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mendes scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Mendes is looking to clinch.
Mendes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gomi is fending him off so far but Mendes persists. Nope, Gomi circles away and we're back to standing.
Mendes tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Gomi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mendes tries to clinch but Gomi moves out of range.
Mendes wants to clinch up but Gomi keeps it at a distance.
Mendes tries to clinch there but Gomi circles away.
Gomi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gomi gets caught napping as Mendes dives in and scores a takedown. Gomi manages to retain guard.
Gomi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mendes wants to get up but he can't break Gomi's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Mendes in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Mendes postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mendes lands a couple of digs.
Mendes stays in close to Gomi's body and controls the position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Gomi looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Gomi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mendes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mendes wants to pass the guard but Gomi is keeping the position.
Mendes wanted to stand there but Gomi had control of the position.
Gomi is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Mendes rolls with it to try and escape but Gomi cranks on the arm and Mendes is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
