PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Revan Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williams has chosen All the Above- Maino ft. T-Pain as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Revan Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Paul Williams!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Williams.
A lazy left from Williams finds it's target.
Gracie misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Williams.
Gracie throws a series of punches but Williams avoids them all with ease.
Williams goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Gracie scores with a jab to the body.
Gracie uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Williams.

Gracie closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Williams quickly recovers to half guard.
Williams is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Gracie tries to pass to full mount but Williams defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Williams regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Gracie.

Gracie trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Williams manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Gracie manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Williams holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Gracie tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Gracie throws a sloppy strike and Williams uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Williams has ended up in Gracie's guard.

Williams is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Gracie keeping moving, preventing Williams from controlling successfully.
Gracie looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williams wants to stand but Gracie is controlling his posture from full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gracie misses the shot to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Williams jabs Gracie to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Nice defenses there by Gracie.
Williams misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Williams tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown but Williams manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gracie's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Paul Williams is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gracie misses with a body punch
and Gracie takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Williams keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Gracie crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Williams - the referee stops the clock and Gracie gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Williams. Gracie manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Williams swings and misses with a hook to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Paul Williams will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Williams throws a head kick that half lands.
Gracie looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Williams slips under a jab from Gracie.
Gracie tries to bum rush Williams with a series of wild strikes but Williams uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Williams pinned against the cage. Williams gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A head kick from Williams lands but Gracie takes it in his stride.
Williams misses with a series of wild punches.
Williams leaves Gracie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Gracie shoots in but Williams avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Revan Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gracie takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Gracie scores with a jab to the jaw.
Williams fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Gracie cracks Williams with a good jab.
Paul Williams seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Gracie throws a lazy uppercut
and Williams counters with a head kick. That will keep Gracie thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Gracie with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Williams to score with a decent uppercut.
Revan Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Williams jabs at Gracie's body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Williams throws the left hand but Gracie avoids the punch easily.
Williams paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Williams ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Gracie throws a hook but Williams blocks it.
Gracie fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Williams throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Gracie's head.


Gracie is rocked!
Nice defenses there by Gracie.
Oh Gracie is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Williams slips a straight right by Gracie.
Gracie seems to have got his legs back now.
Williams avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Williams lands a head kick. Gracie smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Gracie dives in and grabs Williams's left leg, looking for a takedown. Williams pushes down on Gracie's head and hops out.
Williams keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Paul Williams is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A shot to the liver by Williams. Beautiful body shot.
Williams throws a looping overhand right but Gracie ducks down to avoid it.
Gracie slips a jab and a cross from Williams.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Williams!
Gracie scores with a crisp jab that stopped Williams in his tracks.

A slow jab from Gracie misses its intended target.
Gracie throws an off balance right hand
and Williams counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Gracie looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Williams lands with a good body shot.
Williams scores with a decent looking hook.
Williams throws a right and a left that both miss.

Gracie on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Williams. Williams obviously looking to wear him down.
Williams throws a combination. Gracie tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Williams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

A looping hook to the body misses from Gracie. Williams does a little dance to reset his feet.
Williams slips a straight right by Gracie.
Williams moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Gracie pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Williams defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gracie.
Williams lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Williams.
Gracie misses with a combination
and Williams counters with a good low kick that Gracie was not able to check.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Whack! Williams lands a heavy head kick that drops Gracie. The ref tackles Williams to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Gracie was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Paul Williams!
A relieved looking Paul Williams thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
