Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Gutierrez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Gutierrez! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gutierrez is trying to defend but Silva finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Silva wants to take a breather but Gutierrez is having none of it. Silva moves nicely into side control. Silva lands an elbow. Silva in side control, throwing shots but Gutierrez defends. Gutierrez parries the strikes from Silva easily there. Silva is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Gutierrez to escape.
Silva is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gutierrez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Silva postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Gutierrez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Silva defends it nicely. Silva decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Silva is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Gutierrez to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

It's a sloppy attempt though and Gutierrez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Silva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gutierrez, pushing him back against the cage. Gutierrez is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Silva is defending well. Silva works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Gutierrez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Silva's guard. Gutierrez is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Silva is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Silva has escaped and now he's on top! Silva has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gutierrez is proving hard to escape from. Gutierrez manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
That's one minute gone in the round. Gutierrez has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Silva is forced to tap!
