PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Yushi Sushi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yushi Sushi !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jimmy Kane!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sushi looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Sushi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kane napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Sushi happy to just control the position for now.
Sushi will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kane tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sushi wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Sushi looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Kane is avoiding damage well.

Sushi is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kane has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kane should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Kane is letting Sushi control him for a moment.

Sushi seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kane for as long as he can get away with.
Sushi advances to full mount.
Kane looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Sushi is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Kane defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Kane rolls, trying to escape but Sushi keeps control of the position.
Sushi biding his time, looking for the opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kane really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sushi . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sushi 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Yushi Sushi wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Sushi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kane moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Sushi throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kane tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sushi is in Kane's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sushi wanted to stand there but Kane had control of the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kane is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yushi Sushi dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Sushi works the jab nicely.

Kane gets caught napping as Sushi dives in and scores a takedown. Kane manages to retain guard.

Sushi postures up in Kane's guard and throws a big left but Kane blocks it.
Yushi Sushi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sushi is stalling in the full guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Yushi Sushi wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Kane decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Sushi manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Sushi is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Sushi looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kane throws an elbow that misses. Sushi uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kane's guard. Nice move by Sushi !

Sushi stands up and waves to Kane to follow him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kane shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sushi but Sushi pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kane is breathing heavily.
Kane shoots for a double leg takedown but Sushi sprawls well. He's pushed Kane's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kane.
Yushi Sushi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Kane.
No joy there for Kane, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sushi shoots for a takedown but Kane saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Sushi closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kane quickly recovers to half guard.
Sushi works his way into full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sushi lands a big shot there that rocks Kane but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Sushi jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Kane manages to avoid the submission attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sushi decides to stand back up. Sushi steps back and let's Kane get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yushi Sushi dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Sushi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kane napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kane can't do much from the bottom here.
Kane dodges the ground and pound from Sushi .
Sloppy strikes there by Sushi .
Sushi throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Sushi creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kane sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Sushi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kane can do to turn this around?
Kane takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Sushi staying calm.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Yushi Sushi .
Kane stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kane wants it to stay on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sushi shoots in but no luck this time.
Sushi tries to clinch but Kane is having none of it.
Yushi Sushi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sushi misses with a two punch combination.
Kane circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sushi throws a right and a left that Kane avoids nicely.
Sushi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kane swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yushi Sushi . That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sushi doesn't manage to clinch there - Kane circles away.
Sushi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kane is fending him off so far but Sushi persists. Nope, Kane circles away and we're back to standing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sushi shoots in but no luck this time.
Sushi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kane as he avoids it easily.
Sushi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kane but Kane pushes him off and we're back to square one.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kane.
Sushi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kane is fending him off so far but Sushi persists. Nope, Kane circles away and we're back to standing.
Kane fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sushi dives in and grabs Kane's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kane pushes down on Sushi 's head and hops out.

Kane decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Sushi is positioning himself well to prevent Kane advancing to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kane is pressing down on Sushi 's thigh, looking to free his foot. Sushi is holding on for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kane is thwarting Sushi 's attempts to control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Yushi Sushi showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Sushi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
