PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Kralaiev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robbie Law (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Law has chosen Diablo Blvd by Corrosion Of Conformity as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ivan Kralaiev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robbie Law!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Law tries for a takedown but Kralaiev sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Law throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kralaiev's waist but Kralaiev gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Law off to one side.

Kralaiev scores with a takedown into Law's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Kralaiev seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Law looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kralaiev is one step ahead there.
Kralaiev wants to control from the top but Law keeps moving.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kralaiev is on top in guard.
Kralaiev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Law on the ground.

Kralaiev wants to stand but Law has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kralaiev is looking to work some ground and pound but Law has wrist control.

Law is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kralaiev got a little sloppy there for a moment and Law has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kralaiev has managed to get both his arms back between Law's legs - danger averted.
Kralaiev wants to control from the top but Law keeps moving.
Law wants to stand but Kralaiev is controlling the position.

Law thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Law manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kralaiev manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

It looks like Ivan Kralaiev has been cut.

Kralaiev has his feet on Law's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Law tries to clinch but Kralaiev moves out of range.

Law closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Law shoots for a double leg takedown but Kralaiev sprawls well. He's pushed Law's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Law is defended easily by Kralaiev.

Kralaiev throws a low kick but Law avoids it.
Law tries to clinch there but Kralaiev circles away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Robbie Law seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kralaiev throws an overhand right that lands on Law's shoulder, as Law tries to avoid the shot.

Nice takedown defense from Kralaiev. No joy for Law on that attempt.

Kralaiev has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Law is working away from the top position though.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Law connects with a nice short shot to Kralaiev's temple.
Kralaiev is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Law's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Law's back!

Kralaiev wants to control the position but Law frees himself and scrambles - Kralaiev manages to regain control in side control.

Robbie Law showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Law tries to bum rush Kralaiev with a series of wild strikes but Kralaiev uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Law moves in looking to clinch but Kralaiev pushes him off.

Law shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Law showed some decent athleticism there.
Kralaiev is trying to maintain the position but Law is very close to passing his half guard.
Kralaiev is looking for a sweep. Law is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kralaiev is trying to stand.
Law thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kralaiev's head.

Law has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Kralaiev defend it? Law steps over the head and cranks it - Kralaiev is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Law!
