Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johan Herberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mordecai Wollsey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johan Herberg!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mordecai Wollsey!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Matheus Silva and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herberg closes this distance looking for a takedown but Wollsey circles away.
Wollsey lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Herberg at a distance.
Wollsey connects with a jab.
Herberg takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Herberg tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wollsey was well out of range. Poor timing from Herberg.
Wollsey slaps away a takedown attempt from Herberg, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Herberg fails in his attempt to clinch.
Wollsey throws a hook to the side of Herberg's head but Herberg sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Herberg walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Herberg keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Wollsey tries a head kick but it misses.
Herberg pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Herberg ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Wollsey loads up on a big right hand but Herberg slips the punch.

and Herberg counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Wollsey manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Herberg might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Herberg is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Wollsey thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Herberg is in all sorts of trouble here.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Wollsey is landing with some decent strikes but Herberg is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Herberg can't escape the position.
Wollsey trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Herberg regains half guard.
Wollsey wants to control but Herberg is keeping him busy.
Herberg misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Wollsey is trying to control. Herberg wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Wollsey is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mordecai Wollsey.
Wollsey throws the left hand but Herberg avoids the punch easily.

Herberg rushes Wollsey and presses him up against the ropes.
Herberg is looking for a takedown.

Wollsey breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wollsey misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wollsey stuffs the takedown.
Mordecai Wollsey is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Wollsey ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Herberg moves away.
Mordecai Wollsey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wollsey sizes up Herberg with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Herberg shoots in looking for a takedown. Wollsey tries to sprawl out of it but Herberg keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Wollsey manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Wollsey pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Herberg shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wollsey as he avoids it easily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Herberg gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Wollsey.
Herberg takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Wollsey keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mordecai Wollsey dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Herberg drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Wollsey lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Wollsey misses with a body kick.
Herberg fails with a takedown attempt.
Herberg walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

and Herberg counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Herberg.

Herberg throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wollsey works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Herberg tries to lock up and control but Wollsey gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Wollsey takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Wollsey wants to control the pace but Herberg is squirming around nicely.
Herberg regains half guard.
Herberg is pressing down on Wollsey's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Herberg controls Wollsey momentarily but Wollsey frees himself.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mordecai Wollsey wasn't active enough on the ground.
Herberg shoots in and drives through. Wollsey sprawls well.

Wollsey misses with an attempted mid kick.

Wollsey throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

That was a close second round but I would say that Johan Herberg will probably get the nod.

Herberg bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Herberg grinds an elbow into Wollsey's temple.
Herberg has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Wollsey is rocked!
Herberg seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Wollsey is still in real trouble! Can Herberg finish him?
Herberg drops an elbow to the side of Wollsey's head.
Wollsey is not content to let Herberg control the position.
Herberg lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Wollsey! More strikes land and this one is all over! Herberg jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
