Palhares comes to the cage accompanied by Sound of Madness by Shinedown. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Housimar Palhares! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Rider! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Russell Pearce and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Donk. Rider catches Palhares right on the button with a cross. Rider lands with a nice body punch. Palhares looks for a takedown but Rider sprawls well. Rider lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Rider cracks Palhares with a good jab. Rider misses with a low kick.
Palhares misses with a takedown attempt - Rider sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Palhares fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rider avoids it really well and circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Housimar Palhares. That's going to take a lot out of him. Palhares with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Rider to score with a decent uppercut. Palhares loads up on a big right hand but Rider slips the punch. Palhares shoots and misses and Rider connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Palhares swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Palhares has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rider.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rider lands with a slapping head kick. Palhares has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Rider finds it's way round the side to connect with Palhares's head. Rider cracks Palhares with an open hand slap. Palhares throws a right hand that Rider ducks under and follows up with a left that Rider also avoids with ease. Palhares drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Palhares has gone for a leg lock! Rider slips out almost immediately though and dives into Palhares's guard. Rider must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Rider postures up in Palhares's guard and throws a big left but Palhares blocks it. Palhares is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Rider rolls with it to try and escape but Palhares cranks on the arm and Rider is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Housimar Palhares! Housimar Palhares really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that 5th Round Clothing logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
