6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rodrigo Patino! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Patino fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Emelianenko avoids it really well and circles away. Patino fails to land the takedown. Patino fails with a takedown attempt. Flavor Emelianenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rodrigo Patino. Emelianenko connects with the punch.
It looks like Rodrigo Patino has been cut. Patino shoots in looking for a takedown but Emelianenko manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Patino's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Flavor Emelianenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Emelianenko tries to bum rush Patino with a series of wild strikes but Patino uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Emelianenko wants to clinch. Patino drops Emelianenko with a nice combination! Patino dives into Emelianenko's guard, looking to finish!
It looks like Flavor Emelianenko has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Emelianenko is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Patino forces his way into half guard. Patino is working for a kimura but Emelianenko is defending it quite comfortably.
Patino missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Patino has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Emelianenko is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Patino pulls his head out easily. Patino works his way into full mount! Patino with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Patino is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Emelianenko can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Patino working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Emelianenko turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Patino off and cradles Emelianenko's limp body as Patino celebrates with his corner.
