Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Baby Jay Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donato Russo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Mack the Knife. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Baby Jay Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 15 - 1, fighting out of New York, Donato Russo!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Radbod Blank and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Russo lands with a straight right. Penn didn't see that one coming.

Russo leaves Penn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Penn shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Russo as he jumps to the side.

Russo fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Penn sprawls well initially but Russo persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Russo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Penn with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Russo throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Penn because Russo loaded up on that one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Donato Russo dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Penn is defended easily by Russo.
Baby Jay Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Penn dives in and grabs Russo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Russo pushes down on Penn's head and hops out.

and Russo counters with a good low kick that Penn was not able to check.

Penn gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Russo to score an easy takedown into full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Donato Russo was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Penn drops his hands momentarily and Russo takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Penn tries to break free but Russo pushes him back against the cage.
Penn tries to circle away but Russo has him pinned against the cage.
Russo lands a nice elbow.
Penn blocks an elbow strike from Russo.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Russo wants to get back to striking at distance but Penn won't allow it.

Russo creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Penn's defenses.

Penn breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Russo fails to land the takedown.
A slapping leg kick lands for Russo.
Penn shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Penn shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Russo but Russo pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Penn takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Penn is not content to let Russo control the position.
Russo is trying to ground and pound but Penn uses the momentary lack of control by Russo to regain half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Donato Russo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Penn closes the distance and clinches up with Russo, looking for a takedown. Penn pushes Russo against the cage but Russo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Penn on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Russo. Russo obviously looking to wear him down.
Russo jabs Penn right on the nose. Penn blinks but takes it well.


Penn is rocked!
Russo throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Oh Penn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Russo feints and then cracks Penn's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Penn down.
Russo feints with a left and delivers a massive head kick! Penn collapses like a ragdoll! Game over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Donato Russo!
A relieved looking Donato Russo thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
