Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Soto Makikomi!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Chris Edwards and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makikomi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hughman swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hughman shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

and Makikomi counters with a stiff right hand.
Hughman wants to clinch up but Makikomi keeps it at a distance.
Soto Makikomi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Makikomi closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Makikomi gets underhooks to prevent Hughman's takedown attempt.
Makikomi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Hughman has his takedown stuffed
and Makikomi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hughman won't be happy with that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Hughman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Makikomi decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hughman to his feet.
Makikomi scores with a crisp jab that stopped Hughman in his tracks.
Hughman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Makikomi is fending him off so far but Hughman persists. Nope, Makikomi circles away and we're back to standing.
Hughman swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Makikomi makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Hughman really felt that one!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hughman crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Makikomi - the referee stops the clock and Hughman gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Makikomi. Hughman manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Makikomi misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hughman shoots for a takedown but Makikomi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Makikomi throws a right hand that Hughman ducks under and follows up with a left that Hughman also avoids with ease.

Makikomi feints and as Hughman raises his hands in defense, Makikomi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Makikomi is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Makikomi stands and steps away. Hughman gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Makikomi lets loose with a powerful body kick. Hughman will feel that in the morning.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
