Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Garry Gudini! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mick Penn! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Penn throws a sloppy head kick and Gudini moves out of range easily. Gudini dodges the punch combination from Penn.
Gudini darts in trying to clinch and Penn counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Penn. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Penn is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Penn works over Gudini with some ground and pound from guard. Penn forces his way into half guard. Penn throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Penn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Penn winds up and cracks Gudini with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Penn lands with a punch from half guard. Penn is controlling the pace.
Penn drops an elbow to the side of Gudini's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Gudini really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Penn working Gudini over with strikes. Penn seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Gudini is rocked! Penn drops an elbow to the side of Gudini's head. Oh Gudini is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Penn uses his free foot to push down on Gudini's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gudini. Gudini is breathing heavily. Penn working Gudini over with strikes here. This has been an exciting period of action! Oooh a big shot lands for Penn! Gudini is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Mick Penn! Our winner, Mick Penn, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
