Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Einar Lee! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josef Dietrich! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Donk. Dietrich catches Lee right on the button with a cross. Lee waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Dietrich. Lee uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Lee looking for a takedown here - he's got it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Dietrich is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Lee wants to pass the guard but Dietrich is keeping the position. Dietrich looking for a guillotine here but Lee defends easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dietrich is looking for a triangle but Lee pushes his legs off easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee passes Dietrich's left leg - he's now in half guard. Lee thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Dietrich is looking to control Lee's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dietrich avoid being mounted? Lee controlling the action here. Dietrich pushes Lee off looking to stand but Lee dives back in and keeps control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lee takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Lee is trying to control. Dietrich wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Dietrich tries to get to full guard but Lee has control of the leg. Dietrich looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dietrich makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Lee misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Dietrich has taken the fight to the clinch.
Dietrich tries to break the clinch but Lee is controlling the position. Dietrich tries a knee to the head but Lee blocks it.
Dietrich's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Dietrich wants to land a leg kick but Lee is out of range. Lee swings widly with a right hand
and Dietrich counters with a single leg into guard. Lee didn't expect that. Dietrich wants to pass the guard but Lee is keeping the position. Dietrich throws a big right hand that misses. This has been an exciting period of action! Dietrich throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lee works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lee working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Dietrich. Lee looking to control.
Dietrich postures up in Lee's guard and throws a big left but Lee blocks it. Dietrich trying to control but Lee is working from the bottom. Dietrich thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Dietrich throwing strikes from guard but Lee blocks nicely. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Dietrich throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Lee controls Dietrich momentarily but Dietrich frees himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Josef Dietrich dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Dietrich works over Lee's head and body with a nice combination. Lee closes the distance and clinches. Dietrich has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lee avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Dietrich lands a nice uppercut. Dietrich throws a head punch that misses. Lee gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dietrich wants to control but Lee is keeping busy and won't allow it. Dietrich regains full guard. Nicely done. Dietrich tries to land a sweep but no joy. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dietrich kicks Lee off and gets to his feet. Lee scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Dietrich is staying active underneath Lee, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dietrich is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lee's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lee's back! Dietrich is striking from the back but Lee escapes and manages to recover to half guard. Dietrich seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Dietrich working the head and body with strikes. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Dietrich lands a nice short elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dietrich working some strikes from top position.
