Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walter Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tango Cash! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Cash sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Cash works Jones's body with a nice hook. Cash closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Jones tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Jones gets back to half guard. Cash throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Cash is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Jones tries to roll over but Cash keeps him under control. Cash lands strikes from half guard. Cash is keen to just control but Jones is a slippery customer. Cash works his foot free and advances to mount. Cash blocks Jones's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones tries to get back to half guard but can't. Cash looking to control but Jones is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cash landing shots from mount. Cash with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Jones slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Jones missing with punches from the bottom.
Jones is looking for a sweep. Cash is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Jones is breathing heavily. Jones has hold of Cash's hands but Cash slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Jones has a hand on Cash's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Cash takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Jones sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cash's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cash's back! Jones is riding his opponent, not letting Cash buck him off. Cash holding both Jones 's hands and preventing any damage. Jones throwing wild punches that miss their target. Jones doesn't have the hooks in and Cash manages to turn into his guard.
Jones wants to sweep but no luck. Cash distracts Jones with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Cash loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Jones throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cash is one step ahead there.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Jones has his takedown stuffed and Cash counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jones won't be happy with that.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones sneaks back into half guard. Jones is trying to stand back up but Cash is controlling him
Jones gets back to full guard.
Jones is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Cash has his hands clasped together but Jones extends an breaks Cash's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Jones.
