Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Francis Vinci!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pence Apene!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vinci misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Apene showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Vinci.
Vinci looks to clinch

and Apene counters with a single leg into guard. Vinci didn't expect that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Vinci thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Apene lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Vinci throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Apene stands and throws Vinci's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Apene is trying to get an arm triangle but Vinci is defending well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Apene looks up at the clock and then as Vinci takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Apene smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Apene is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vinci is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Apene wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Vinci, who protects the arm well.
The referee asks Apene politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Apene prefers to stall for the moment though.

Apene is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vinci is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Apene tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Apene is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Vinci looks calm but he's in trouble here. Apene gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Vinci is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Apene lets go of the hold and Vinci can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Pence Apene!
