Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paulie Mesh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Song (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mesh gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Mesh drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Song gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Mesh gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Song trying to control from the bottom.
Song desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Song trying to hold on to Mesh's head to control him but Mesh postures up.
Mesh content to control rather than advance.
Mesh slips a nice elbow through Song's hands, connecting with Song's forehead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Song wants to control but Mesh is keeping busy.

Mesh decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Song, up you get!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Mesh scores with a takedown into Song's guard.
Mesh trying to control the position from guard on top but Song is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Mesh pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Song is keeping the position for now.

Song uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Mesh is breathing heavily.
Mesh wants to clinch up but Song keeps it at a distance.
Mesh throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Song's waist but Song gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mesh off to one side.

A head kick misses from Mesh.
Song swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Song is pressed up against the cage. Mesh has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Song down to the mat. Song avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and Mesh counters with a straight right hand.
Song looks to land a combination. Mesh sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Song misses with a takedown attempt - Mesh sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Mesh pushes Song off and scrambles back to his feet.

Mesh tries to hold on but Song postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Song wants to control the pace but Mesh is squirming around nicely.
Mesh tries to lock up and control but Song gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Mesh working to try and regain half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mesh swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Billy Song dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Song shoots in but Mesh avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mesh fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Paulie Mesh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mesh fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Mesh closes the distance and clinches.
Mesh gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Song.
Mesh is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Song pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Song throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Mesh counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Paulie Mesh overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Song is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Song trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Song is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Mesh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Song swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Song looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Song kicks Mesh off and gets to his feet.

Mesh is looking to clinch but Song is avoiding it.
Song misses with a takedown attempt

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Song looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Song prevents Mesh from getting a body triangle.
Song tries to escape but Mesh has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Song turns into Mesh and is now in his guard.

Song is fighting to break Mesh's control of his arms but Mesh is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Song is holding on to half guard well.
Song looks like he's trying to stand up.
Song is staying active underneath Mesh, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Mesh seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Mesh decides to stand and escape the position.

Song is looking to pass Mesh's guard but actually Mesh recovers to full guard.
Song slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Song has an Americana. Mesh didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Song is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Song hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
