Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stu Mercer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barry Dingle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Mercer might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Trapt-Still Frame. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Stu Mercer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Barry Dingle! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dingle throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mercer's waist but Mercer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dingle off to one side. Mercer scores with a nice body kick.
Dingle looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Dingle is trying to control. Mercer wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Dingle thows a huge punch but Mercer dodges it nicely.
Mercer is looking to escape. Mercer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dingle on the ground. Dingle wants to take a breather but Mercer is having none of it. Dingle throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Dingle missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Dingle has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Mercer tries to kick Dingle off but Dingle keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Mercer is not content to let Dingle control the position. Dingle is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Mercer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mercer tries to get out of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dingle missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Dingle trying to control the action but Mercer is working from the bottom. Dingle wants to free his trapped foot but Mercer is holding on for dear life with his legs. Mercer wants to control but Dingle is keeping busy and won't allow it. Mercer is trying to stand back up but Dingle is controlling him
Dingle should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Dingle throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Dingle is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mercer defends it well. Dingle tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mercer knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dingle stops Mercer from getting back to his feet.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Dingle has eaten all the pies! Dingle trying to mount his opponent but Mercer defends it. Mercer is staying active underneath Dingle, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Dingle thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Mercer tries to kick Dingle off but Dingle keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Nice strikes from Dingle there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dingle lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Dingle is pressing down on Mercer's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mercer is holding on for now. Dingle thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mercer's head. Mercer wants to get back to his feet.
Dingle has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dingle breaks from Mercer's wrist control and lands an elbow. Mercer is in a horrible position here. Dingle smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Dingle throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Poor strikes thrown by Dingle there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Barry Dingle dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.
Dingle shoots and misses and Mercer counters with an inside leg kick. Dingle takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Dingle throws a lazy head kick and Mercer counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Mercer lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Dingle takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Dingle tries to work over Mercer's front leg with a kick but Mercer checks it. Mercer fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Dingle has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Dingle doesn't succeed with the takedown and Mercer counters with a head kick. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dingle tries for a takedown but Mercer circles away easily and Mercer counters with a leg kick. Stu Mercer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barry Dingle. Mercer moves into range and clinches up with Dingle. Dingle is breathing heavily. Mercer connects with a knee to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mercer with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. The fighters are pressed against the ropes, as the pace of the fight slows. Dingle takes a knee right on the jaw!

Dingle is still on wobbly legs! Can Mercer finish him? We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Mercer jerks Dingle's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Dingle drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Mercer goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Mercer because Dingle was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knee). Stu Mercer! A pretty intense looking Stu Mercer took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
