Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Vonshutenhout! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stoner scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Vonshutenhout has eaten all the pies! Stoner misses with a few strikes there.
Danga de danga de dang - Stoner scores with a four punch combination! Thomas Stoner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Stoner attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Vonshutenhout throws a nice outside leg kick. Vonshutenhout gets a takedown into half guard. Vonshutenhout sitting and controlling from the half guard. Vonshutenhout sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Stoner defending well though. Stoner wants to get back to his feet.

Vonshutenhout is taking a breather. Stoner says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Vonshutenhout is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Stoner has managed to free his arm - good work. Stoner tries to roll over but Vonshutenhout keeps him under control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Vonshutenhout has Stoner up against the cage in a clinch.
Stoner prevents Vonshutenhout from breaking the clinch. Stoner softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Vonshutenhout tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Stoner smiles and moves away.
Nice sprawl there from Stoner as Vonshutenhout shoots in. Vonshutenhout has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Stoner uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Stoner throws a nice looking combination but Vonshutenhout bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vonshutenhout circles away from the clinch attempt and Vonshutenhout holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Stoner wants to get back to striking at distance but Vonshutenhout won't allow it.

Vonshutenhout shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stoner as he jumps to the side. Thomas Stoner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Vonshutenhout. The fight moves into the clinch position. Stoner prevents the takedown attempt.
Vonshutenhout tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Stoner smiles and moves away.

That was a close round but I would say that Thomas Stoner will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Vonshutenhout takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Stoner lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Stoner misses with a low kick.

He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Vonshutenhout! Stoner controlling from mount. Stoner seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Vonshutenhout for as long as he can get away with. Vonshutenhout seems to have recovered his senses.

Stoner looking to control but Vonshutenhout is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Stoner is really struggling to control Vonshutenhout but he's trying to hold on to the position. Vonshutenhout is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Stoner throws a leg kick but Vonshutenhout sees it coming and moves out of range. Stoner scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Stoner stalks Vonshutenhout and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Vonshutenhout's face. Vonshutenhout staggers backwards, shaken. A combination from Stoner does no damage. Stoner throws a half hearted mid kick. Stoner goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Vonshutenhout avoids a punch combination nicely.
Stoner bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Vonshutenhout's head backwards. Stoner moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Stoner tries to clinch there but Vonshutenhout circles away.
Stoner has closed the distance and engaged Vonshutenhout in a clinch.

Stoner throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Vonshutenhout. Stoner misses with a jab, cross combination.
Vonshutenhout tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Stoner swivels and escapes. Vonshutenhout takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Stoner shoots in but Vonshutenhout avoids the takedown attempt easily. A low kick from Stoner misses and Vonshutenhout decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stoner's guard.

It's a sloppy attempt though and Vonshutenhout jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Stoner has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Vonshutenhout gets a trip takedown into half guard. Stoner is trying to get back to full guard. Vonshutenhout is trying to control the action in half guard but Stoner is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Vonshutenhout tries for a takedown but Stoner circles away easily and Stoner counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Vonshutenhout drops down looking for an ankle pick but Stoner pulls his leg out and moves away.

A close third round but John Vonshutenhout just about did enough to take it. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Stoner tries to clinch but Vonshutenhout moves away and Vonshutenhout counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stoner won't be happy with that. Vonshutenhout moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. John Vonshutenhout has got the better of the ground game so far. Vonshutenhout decides to stand up, so the ref orders Stoner to his feet. Stoner throws a front kick aimed at Vonshutenhout's knee but Vonshutenhout avoids it well. Stoner misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Vonshutenhout is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. Vonshutenhout closes this distance looking for a takedown but Stoner circles away. Stoner throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Stoner throws a head kick that misses and Vonshutenhout holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Stoner escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's one minute gone in the round. Stoner moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Stoner works over Vonshutenhout's head and body with a nice combination. Stoner misses with a double jab.
Stoner throws a series of punches but Vonshutenhout moves out of range. Stoner has his takedown stuffed and Vonshutenhout counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Stoner's guard now. Stoner wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Vonshutenhout manages to pass to side control. Vonshutenhout in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Stoner tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Vonshutenhout!
